The Fourth of July Feast

I hope you all enjoyed my decorating ideas (if you haven’t seen it, you can click through here!), but now we’re on to the food! In this post, I’ll be featuring my Simple Barbecue Chicken Drumsticks recipe and will give you a sneak peak for The Firecracker Fourth Poke Cake, which you’ll see in our upcoming video this Wednesday!

Simple Barbecue Chicken Drumsticks

A dozen Chicken drumsticks

3 qts. Water

Small handful Fresh thyme

1/4 cup Salt

1/4 cup Dark brown sugar

4 Garlic cloves, smashed

Your favorite Barbecue Sauce

Pour your water in a large stockpot, and add the thyme, salt, dark brown sugar, and garlic cloves. Give a couple stirs, and let the sugar and salt dissolve. Add the drumsticks into the brine and keep covered in the fridge for a minimum of two hours, stirring occasionally. Once ready to grill, take drumsticks out of the brine, pat dry with paper towels, and place onto a hot grill, cooking over medium-low heat or medium-high indirect heat. Indirect heat is good for minimizing flare-ups. Once the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, take off the grill and plate. Lather with your favorite barbecue sauce. Serve immediately.

The Firecracker Fourth Poke Cake

I’m so excited to share with you my poke cake recipe, but you’ll have to wait until Wednesday! Until then, enjoy the sneak peek!

I hope you all enjoy the upcoming holiday, or at the very least, fill your bellies with amazing food!
