Taco Friday - A Family Tradition
This past Friday I had the pleasure of hosting a lovely family. The occasion; a birthday, on the menu; Street Tacos.
What a wonderful group this was! Not only was Kristin an amazing guest of honor but to my surprise her mother, Kim, happened to be a familiar face from my daily routine. What a small world! Kim - your family is a riot & I was happy to host such a fabulous group!
As the guests began to arrive so did a pitcher full of margaritas with personalized glasses (SO cute!)... I soon learned that every Friday this family enjoys Mexican food at one of their favorite restaurants in town. So, true to tradition - the birthday girl chose Street Tacos.
Now - let's talk food...
Corn chips & guacamole... need I say more? The chips are made from fresh corn tortillas & the guacamole it's simplest form. Always a crowd pleaser! A big thank you to my two helpers!
Now, the Pork Carnitas Taco with a touch of orange juice and bay leaves finished off with a delicious jalapeño slaw wrapped in a corn tortilla. YUM!
Next up... shrimp tacos, extra shrimp for the birthday girl! Marinated in smokey chipotle sauce & dressed with roasted corn, sautéed vegetables, & chipotle lime crema.
Shout out to my crema helper who "whipped it good" ;-)
Finishing the night we enjoyed sopapillas with cajeta. This delightful dessert has just the right amount of sweet brown sugar and a hint of cinnamon that will satisfy the sweetest sweet tooth ;-)
From rocking out to 80's music, doing the "wave" around the table, sharing stories & making new memories - it was such a pleasure to have this family in the Crème Kitchen.
Kristin, thank you for sharing your celebration with me! Hopefully you spend a Friday night "in" enjoying "A Tale Of Two Tacos" (street tacos)!
xoxo
