Spiced Apple Crisp in a Jar
Ingredients:
Crumble Topping
1 Cup Old-Fashioned Oats
1/4 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
4 Ounces Butter
Apple Filling
4-5 Pink Lady Apples (peeled, cored, and cut into small squares)
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
1 Tablespoon White Granulated Sugar
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
Homemade Whipped Cream
2 Cups Heavy Cream
2 Tablespoons White Granulated Sugar
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F and place four mason jars on a baking sheet.
In a separate bowl, begin with your apple filling. Add your Apples and Lemon Juice first, to keep the apples from browning.
Finish with your Brown Sugar, White Sugar, Cinnamon, and Salt. Mix and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine the crumble topping ingredients: Old-fashioned Oats, Brown Sugar, Flour, Salt, Cinnamon, and Butter. A pastry cutter works great for this.
Take 2 tablespoons of the crumble topping and mix it into the apple filling. Mix until combined, broken up, and melted into the apple mixture.
Use apple filling to fill jars so that they are nearly full (the apples will settle as they cook). Top each jar with the crumble mixture.
Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the apple mixture is bubbling and the topping has lightly browned.
In a large mixing bowl, combine cold Heavy Cream and Sugar with a hand mixer until you have your desired thick consistency. Set in the fridge to cool.
Let jars cool a bit after removing from the oven, but not too much!
Serve warm. Top jars with a scoop of your delicious Whipped Cream!
Enjoy :).
